David Lanz Revisited

We all enjoyed a great concert at the Covey Arts Center in Provo, listening to one of the family's favorite piano players, David Lanz. We loved everything he performed which included many of his biggest hits from the past...Cristofori's Dream, Dark Horse, A Whiter Shade of Pale, Madre de la Tierra, Knights in White Satin, Leaves on the Seine; his arrngements of Beatles tunes such as Lovely Rita Meter Maid and Norwegian Wood; plus many wonderful Christmas pieces. It brought back memories of a similar concert in Abravenal Hall in Salt Lake City in the 1980s when all 6 of us attended and got our programs autographed. He certainly has inspired the four Barker musicians through the years with his New Age sounds and we have lots of sheet music to prove it. He played 2 or 3 numbers at a time and talked to the audience in between...quite laid back and casual. He referred to his music as Heavy Mellow! His crazy Nutcracker encore, complete with Santa hat and sunglasses, brought out a diferenet aspect of his personality. There was something about hearing the music live and watching him play, that was thrilling and made a big difference. Thanks, David, for continuing to share your talent.

Apple pie and white chocolate macadamia cookies, courtesy of Airie Baker (it actually applies here!) Thanks for the treats and we're glad Abram got the Jetta back in good working order.

Little black-capped chickadees, grandma Barker's favorite bird.

Quite a handsome little fellow.

Western scrub jay grabbing a peanut to go hide somewhere in the yard.

Scrub jay and a quail.

Fat quail sitting on as mugho, thanks to the crusted snow. Dad also saw a Kestral (falcon) last week and 2 red-tailed hawks.

It was pretty cool to see good old Dave being smooth and playing great music. Thank you for the opportunity.

p.s. your bird pics are great, and the birds are so cute. I want to put a bird feeder on our back porch but I have two problems with that...two fuzzy problems.
