The gumball machine with grandkids. The kids had to ask Mr. Penny for a real penny from his drawstring pouch, then put it in the slot, turn the crank, and a gumball (balloon) would drop down. Before the night was over, all the gumballs were on the floor. FUN for grandma.

We had fun finding 6 geocaches in Farmington over the weekend. The weather was soooo gorgeous, we ditched the yard work and went for it. The first one was placed by our friends, the Percivals, in Woodland Park.
Being in the park brought back a lot of community theater memories. (I did not need the big sweater!)
The name of this cache was Ground Zero. Supposedly the height from the cache to Flag Rock at the top is the same as the height of the twin towers in NYC!

Ken Klinker of Farmington carves lots of jack o'lanterns. He had close to 80 this year...about 25 real and 55 styrofoam...lit with electrial candle-type bulbs. They were displayed at the City Offices on Friday and in front of his home (about 5 blocks from our house) on Halloween. We went to see them in both places. He uses patterns from the internet and designs his own as well. They are amazing...lots of little cuts! He gave us some hints about carving, etc. Just wanted to share few of our favorites.

Wow those pumpkins are amazing!!! I watched a professional pumpkin carving contest on the Food Network and they had nothing on this guy! Thanks for the Halloween party pics....as you could see I used all of them for my blog, hehe...thanks! We had such a good time and were glad you could be there for the fun!

Wow looks like you guys had tons of fun! You and dad are so cute/fun in your costumes! I love the hike to Flag Rock it's so beautiful up there in the fall. I'm glad the weather was nice. It's fun to ditch yard work sometimes right? I liked all the pumpkins I can't imagine how much time that would take! very cool!
