Bowl, Bloom, Beautiful Sunset and more Birds

The Super Bowl Party was Super! It was lots of fun to have a team to cheer for and it's great that Baron's Green Bay Packers won...31 to 25 over the Steelers.

Baron went to a lot of work with the party decorations...balloons. crepe paper streamers, and the big banner. There were a few good commercials, the half-time entertainment was lousy, but the football was exciting down to the last minute.

Airie did a great job on the cake for the cheeseheads...it tasted great, too.
Donette did a great job on the "pigs (plain and cheese-filled) in a blanket" and the baked beans were scrumdiliumcious.

THE FOOD(!) included veggies and dip, chips and crackers and 6 kinds of Wisconsin (of course) cheese. Note the yellow plates and green tablecloth. Everybody wore green and/or yellow.
MacPuddy was part of the party.

Baron...is into it.

Mom's havin' a good time.

Airie and Abram enjoying the food and the fun.

Autumn..."What's a first down?"

After the final score was posted, we were all smiles.

A Farmington winter sunset taken by Mom off the back deck. It's all about the lucky timing.

My Christmas cactus that blooms in January...last bloom.

Close-up of the bloom.

The cut-leaf philodendron. When I brought a start home from Grandma Russell's house 16 months ago, it had 3 leaves. Now it has 20! You probably can't tell, but it's snowing while the sun is shining.

A well-camoed sharp-shinned hawk in a tree on the berm, taken by Dad with his new telephoto lens. We often see hawks on this level branch.

Sharp-shinned hawk fanning his tail...showing off.

Hungry visitors...2 house finches and one goldfinch. Haven't seen too many gold ones this winter.

Good shot of a flicker with a floating puffball chick-a-dee in the background.

Oh no, look who's butting in.

This guy got relocated.

Here is a short video showing how the little birds take turns. They fly in, in "waves," from the staging area (atop the mughos), take a quick bite and exchange places.

I really enjoyed the game actually. Those are some awesome bird shots dad! I'm guessing the food you feed the birds doesn't cost "tuppence" or two pence a bag ;)
